A King's Story

A King’s Story has been a work of love for me.  When I wondered at my temerity in
writing such a book, became anxious over details, or worried about writer’s
block, again and again I felt the presence of God.  Whether I was riding in my car
or sitting in church, I begged for signs of spiritual support, and after a while
peacefully waited for them to occur as I knew they would.

To be specific, let me share the first such occurrence.  After coming up with the
initial plot, I decided that I would need a
Bible and maybe even a book like The
Robe (which I had never read) to be able to flip from page to page to use for
research.  Obviously, the family
Bible was not one of the books to use.  Within
hours on this same day, in response to a note in my school teacher’s mailbox to
all teachers that books would be available as “freebies” due to the library’s end-
of-the-year closure, I walked straight to the center table of discarded books and
side-by-side lay both an old paperback
Bible and The Robe.

A King’s Story is grounded in research by scholars before me and also in the
words of the evangelists.  Exact words from passages of the
Bible were
frequently used.  A major resource was the voluminous text
The Birth of the
Messiah
by Raymond E. Brown, S.S.
